The data delivery and the reporting phase of the MAP-SOP 'Hydrological experiments', designed in the Project P3, are now in a good shape. The summary of the conducted experiments can be found, as usually, at the WG Web site http:// www.ing.unibs.it/~dic-segr/maphyd.htm. Soil moisture data, helicopter-borne passive microwave radiometric measurements, water level in reservoirs in the Lago Maggiore target area, the water level and outflow of the lake, stream flow and high resolution rain gauge data in the Toce valley are already available at the MAP Data Centre. For a preliminary description of the experiments, the following collection of papers de-scribing the field and numerical activity has been prepared and is ready in draft form (see the Table of contents below). The final version will be available soon and at that time it will be easier to draw better defined conclusions than those preliminarily presented at the MAP meeting 2000 in Slovenia. The role of the Working Group now is to promote the dissemination of the results of the SOP and the exchange of experiences with other interested Working Groups.
