Hydrology-based areal rainfall estimates...

The average precipitation volume P falling in a river basin can be estimated via an inverse rainfall-runoff approach, as a function of measured runoff, Q, and a storage capacity of the basin, S. Using a simplified model we can not only estimate the event-cumulated areal precipitation P.

but also the uncertainty, VarP of this estimate. This method can be used in poorly rainfall-monitored catchments.
