MAP SOP Planning Workshop "Challenges in Mountain Meteorology"

The planning of the MAP SOP field phase - to take place in autumn 1999 - is already well underway. The purpose of the forthcoming MAP Monte Verita Workshop is to proceed with these planning activities. Particularly welcome are
At the time of the workshop, final decisions about the availability of many observing systems should be available. The purpose of the meeting will be to develop observational strategies best suited to address the MAP scientific objectives, to plan the operation and coordination of airborne and surface-based observing systems, and to draft the MAP SOP implementation plan.

The deadline for application is May 15. Limited financial support (covering board and accommodation) for a few Ph.D. students is also available and can be applied for. A second circular will be mailed in August. Attendance to the workshop might need to be limited by space considerations.
