Available Data
CD-R's of:
1) The software used to
create the P-3 radar data disk files.
2) The P-3 flight notes.
These are the notes made during the flight by the radar and chief scientist on
the aircraft. They also include the post flight reports of the scientists on
the aircraft.
3) The P-3 flight tracks.
These are overlays of the flight track on the appropriate satellite imagery.
4) The P-3 lower fuselage
radar composites. These are composites, normally at 10 minute intervals, of the
data from the lower fuselage radar.
5) The P-3 dropsonde raw and
processed data files. These include the unedited files directly from the
on-board system and the processed, edited files that I prepared for use in
making Skew-T's.
6) The P-3 radar RAMS files.
These are used by some researchers when they are processing the lower fuselage
and Doppler radar data.
7) The flight level standard
data files. This is also called the in-situ data. It is the information
collected in flight by sensors ranging from the dew pointer to the temperature
probes. The standard data has been post processed to include re-calibration
results from after the project. Some researchers prefer to work with this data
rather than the standard data ASCII files that I generate.
8) README files for all of
these items are in the appropriate folders on the CD-R's.
The radar data disk files
from the following missions are included in a set of 16 CD-R's:
1) 990929H
2) 990930H
3) 991001H
4) 991002H
5) 991004H
6) 991013H

13) 991103H
14) 991104H
15) 991107H
16) 991112H
All of the CD-R's have been tested on LINUX, UNIX, HPUX, Mac and PC systems.
Also available is a set of 26
4mm 90m DAT tapes of the microphysics, or PMS, data.
This is the raw data
collected by the cloud probes on the P-3 during the following missions:
1) 990929H
2) 990930H 1/2 and 2/2
3) 991001H
4) 991002H
5) 991004H 1/2 and 2/2
6) 991013H
7) 991018H, consolidated
8) 991020H, consolidated
9) 991021H 1/2 and 2/2
10) 991023H 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3
11) 991024H 1/2 and 2/2
12) 991030HA
13) 991030HB
14) 991103H 1/2 and 2/2
15) 991104H 1/2 and 2/2
16) 991106HB 1/2 and 2/2
17) 991107H
("Consolidated means that
multiple original tapes were copied onto one working copy.)
Also included with the
microphysics tapes is a tape copy of all of the standard tapes. This is the
processed flight level data
from the Aircraft Operations
Center. They have done their quality control, re-calibration, etc., work on the
in-flight data and
produced these tapes of
flight level data.
